A Sweet Little Gaggle: When Watercolor Becomes Part of the Celebration

Some of my favorite paintings aren’t of buildings or landmarks at all—they’re the quiet, personal pieces created for life’s smaller (but incredibly meaningful) moments. This recent custom watercolor was one of those.

Alongside my venue paintings, I recently finished a piece that couldn’t be sweeter: a little family of geese—also known as a gaggle. This watercolor was created for an upcoming baby shower and will be used across the celebration, from the invitations to the printed details on the day itself.

There’s something especially meaningful about creating artwork that doesn’t just hang on a wall, but becomes part of a gathering. When a painting is woven into a celebration like a baby shower, it takes on a life of its own—welcoming guests, setting the tone, and quietly telling a story before a single word is spoken.

For this piece, the goal was softness, warmth, and a sense of family. The geese—standing close, connected, and content—felt like the perfect symbol for welcoming a new little one. Whimsical without being overdone, sweet without being sugary.

What I love most about projects like this is knowing that long after the shower ends, the artwork lives on. It becomes a keepsake. Something tucked into a baby book, framed in a nursery, or pulled out years later with a smile and a story that begins with, “This was from before you were even born.”

These are the moments that remind me why I love custom work so much. Whether it’s a home, a venue, or a small family of geese, painting what matters most to you is always an honor.

If you’re dreaming up a celebration and looking for artwork that feels personal and meaningful, I’d love to help bring that idea to life—one brushstroke at a time.
