Sketchbook journaling

Natalie Bradley's sketchbook journal

Sketchbook journaling is one of my new favorite things. It really does help me to get out of my head and into a place of joy. It also helps me warm up to paint for my awesome clients like you!

I’m taking a journal sketching class this month and learning to get looser, paint with a very limited palette, play and experiment more in my sketch journal. It’s amazing how quickly you can learn when you step through ridiculous fears and put what you learn into practice every single day.

I love learning from other (much) more experienced artists and stepping out of my comfort zone. I’ve seriously had the most fun in this class and in this process.

These are a few pictures from my sketchbook journal that I created this past week.

It’s so much fun to play in my journal. Quick sketches, no thinking, just playing, and it is the MOST fun!

I sketched this from an online sketchbook journaling class. Sometimes I get too serious about creating something beautiful and forget to have fun, so this class really helped me open up and experiment. Plus, I got to imagine I was in France for a little while, which didn’t hurt!

This was a continuous line drawing I did while I was at my Kiwanis luncheon one day. Just normal Southern restaurant items on the table, but it was a lot of fun experimenting with this.
